In order to allow the delivery and erection of a crane on Aldgate Place, Commercial Road will be closed to all traffic between Manningtree Street & Whitechapel High Street. There will also be temporary traffic lights controlling traffic on Whitechapel High Street, Commercial Street & Leman Street junction.
These works and the road closure will start at 11.30pm on Friday 19th November 2021 and all should be completed for around 5am on Monday 22nd November 2021.
There will be a signed diversion for all vehicles travelling westbound via Whitechapel High Street, Whitechapel Road & New Road. Eastbound traffic will be via Burdett Road, Mile End Road, Whitechapel Road & Whitechapel High Street.
Pedestrian, business & residents’ access will be maintained as much as possible, although one footway will need to be closed during the works and pedestrians will be diverted to use the other footway. Cyclists will also be diverted during the works via local roads.
